So, you're in the market for a luxurious new sedan, and you've chosen to look for an Audi for your commutes around Freehold, Monroe Township, and Jackson. So far, so good! Both the small  A4 and the midsize  A6 are fantastic options, but how do you know which one is the best choice for you? Our team at Audi Freehold is here to help you answer this question. We've put together this comparison of the Audi A4 vs. A6 to give you an in-depth look at what each has to offer, both inside the cabin and under the hood.

Audi A4 vs Audi A6: Engines & Handling

Under the hood of the Audi A4, you'll find a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that's paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. With front-wheel drive, this engine achieves 190 horsepower, or you can opt up to all-wheel drive, and increase engine output to 252 horsepower. At its most powerful, the A4 comes with a 3.0L turbocharged V6 that makes 354 horsepower and comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The standard engine in the midsize A6 is the 252-horsepower 2.0L engine. With front-wheel drive, you'll get the 7-speed automatic transmission, or opt for all-wheel drive to get the 8-speed. Higher trims will get you a 3.0L supercharged V6 that makes 340 horsepower. With the S6, you'll get a 4.0L V8 that produces an impressive 450 horsepower.

Overall, the A4 drives more like a sports car, while the A6 is more of a luxuriously comfortable option. Both options are smooth and easy to maneuver, and your choice will depend on your preferences.

A4 vs A6 Interior

Inside the cabin of either of these sedans, you'll find seating for five on standard leather upholstery. 8-way power adjustable heated front seats are also standard, and there's lots of available upgrades to add if you choose. Both vehicles receive praise for their easy-to-access child safety seat connectors.

The A4 is, of course, slightly smaller than the A6, but both can comfortably fit adults in the back seat. The trunk of the 2018 A4 measures 13 ft3, while the A6 offers 14.1 ft3. You can fold the 40/20/40-split rear seats down to make room for additional cargo.

Both the Audi A4 and A6 come with the Audi MMI® infotainment system. The A4 has a 7-inch display, while the A6 has a larger 8.3-inch screen. Both vehicles come with a helpful rearview camera and USB ports for charging. The A4 also offers full smartphone integration using standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, which are available options on the A6.

In terms of safety, both these vehicles come with Audi pre sense®, which can detect an impending collision and prime the car by closing windows and tightening seatbelts.
