If
you're prepared to enjoy life in a luxury midsize sedan, it's time to
compare the Audi A6 vs. BMW 5 Series. As two of the leading luxury
midsize cars on the market, they're a favorite of Freehold, Monroe
Township, and Jackson drivers.
However, which one will be the perfect fit for your lifestyle and needs? They have their similarities, and they do have their differences. Audi Freehold is here to explain the features and amenities these cars have to offer, as we take a closer look at the A6 and 5 Series.

Audi A6 vs BMW 5 Series Performance
The
entry-level A6 is quite similar to the BMW 5 Series when it comes to
what's under the hood. However, the A6's greater torque rating leaves
the 5 Series lagging behind when it comes to that sharp acceleration and
turning ability.
The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder in the A6 delivers 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The 5 Series, while also making 248 horsepower, comes up a bit short in the torque department, at 258 lb-ft. This gives the A6 the edge when it comes to agility and drivefeel.
The A6 does something else to separate itself from the competition. The base edition includes quattro® all-wheel drive with ultra® technology, which offers better grip when encountering slippery roadways. While the 5 Series does carry an all-wheel-drive system, it is not a standard feature.

Audi A6 vs BMW 5 Series Technology
The
fully digital instrument cluster found in the Audi A6, known as the
Audi virtual cockpit, provides a wealth of information in sharp,
detailed graphics. You'll see traditional speed information, along with
navigation, media, and driver-assistance system information. This
12.3-inch virtual cockpit can be controlled with two different views.
While the BMW 5 Series does carry the helpful iDrive infotainment system, you won't find a digital information cluster of this size if you're looking at the BMW.
Smartphone integration is simplified when using Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ in the A6. It takes just a few taps to have your smartphone displayed on the touchscreen, giving you access to text messages, maps, and music. The 5 Series doesn't carry Android Auto™, leaving certain smartphone owners in the cold.
Cabin Amenities
The
base edition of the BMW 5 Series features a well-designed interior,
with power front sport seats, lumbar support in the driver's chair, and a
memory system for the driver's seat. However, the upholstery is known
as SensaTec, which is a nice way of saying that it's artificial leather.
Turn to the Audi A6 for standard leather seats that look great and feel
great, too.
Comfort is important, particularly when you're out on long drives. The 5 Series features automatic climate control with air distribution controls and automatic air recirculation, but this system can't quite match the three-zone automatic climate control found in the A6. In the A6, even those in the back seat will have automatic temperature control, something those in the BMW 5 Series can't say they'll have.
Audi A6 vs BMW 5 Series: The Final Word
If you're looking for a luxury car, then there's no question that both the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series can fill the void. That being said, with its powerful performance, tech features, and amenities, drivers in Freehold, Monroe Township, and Jackson would be better off going with the superior A6 as their next car.
