Introducing Audi e-tron®

There's something new and exciting coming around the bend: Audi e-tron® technology. This bold new frontier from Audi is bringing the driving experience into the 21st century for motorists in Freehold and Manalapan.

At Audi Freehold, you'll soon discover Audi e-tron® vehicles and what they are capable of on the streets of Monroe Township and Jackson. Audi began its recent innovation with a plug-in hybrid vehicle, but is now seeking to transform the conversation, with a line of purely electric vehicles.

Audi e-tron® Technology

Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) use an electric motor along with a larger battery for responsive torque and long-range capability. Electric vehicles run entirely on electric power stored in a battery, which can be recharged at home overnight from a 220-volt outlet. This is slightly different than plug-in hybrid technology, because those vehicles can run on gas if the battery is on empty.

The current Audi A3 Sportback e-tron® can be charged in a little over two and a half hours, with a 240-volt charging unit. The Audi e-tron® quattro® concept allows the combined charging system to charge with a DC or AC electrical current, which at a charging station will take about 30 minutes. The currently available Audi A3 Sportback e-tron® can get a total EPA-estimated range of 400 miles1 as a combination gas-electric hybrid. Though there are no current numbers available for the battery-only vehicles Audi is developing, it's expected they'll be in this territory.

Audi Concept Vehicles

The e-tron® quattro® concept is a fully electric vehicle with progressive design and convenient technology. This SUV has been designed to use three electric motors (one in front and two in the rear) to create 590 lb-ft of torque. The concept is expected to have a long-range capability of about 310 miles.

In most cases, an overnight charge at home means you don't need to stop at a charging station during the day. Along with the standard equipped charger, there are many third-party manufacturers offering 240-volt home charging, which can be installed in your home or garage for a convenient setup. Some future e-tron® models are being created to offer wireless charging. There are over 17,000 public charging stations and 50,000 public charging outlets across the country, with plenty of room to grow, too.
